The taonga offered here are individually crafted instruments, shaped through an ongoing practice grounded in taonga pūoro. Each piece is made with careful attention to material, form, and voice, allowing the natural character of the material to guide its outcome.

No two taonga are the same. Variations in shell, wood, stone, and fibre mean that each instrument carries its own presence, response, and sound. These are not mass-produced objects, but considered works that sit between traditional knowledge and contemporary practice.

Where appropriate, materials are sourced and worked in a way that respects their origin, and each instrument is tested to ensure it is responsive and playable. Some pieces are suited to ceremonial use and open spaces, while others are more intimate in scale and voice.

These taonga are offered as they are completed. Once they are gone, they are not replicated in the same form.
